U9 Hurling

The U9 hurlers travelled to play St Patricks on Friday evening and came away with a victory after a tough match. We were slow to start and fell behind to some soft goals but we fought back and thanks to strong play from Brian O’Donnell and Finn O’Muiri we were just 5 points behind at half time. In the second half we really got going and a string of scores from Sean O’Kane and Harry Gleeson got us in front. St Patrick’s came back at us but the defence, with Adam Butler and Conor Coughlan leading the way, held out for a 7 point victory.

U14 Féile Peil na nOg

We are very proud of our U14 Football team who will represent, their CLUB,COMMUNITY and COUNTY at Féile Peil na nÓg on the first weekend of July 2009. This is a great achievement for the team, their mentors and the club

To defray the cost of the weekend the Monaleen fundraising committee for Féile Peil 09 are holding a TABLE QUIZ on Friday 12th June in Monaleen Clubhouse @ 9pm. Tables of Four will cost €40. We would encourage as many club members (Young and Old) and their families to attend on the night.

Monaleen Camogie Under 10

Monaleen camogie had a great performance in reaching the B semi-finals in the under 10 county blitz in Kilmallock on Sunday 7th June. They were undefeated in the group stages with wins against Ahane and Cappamore, and draws against Croagh-Kilfinny & Ballyagran, Claire Kelly, Susan Fullen, Ciara Neville, Aine Nelligan, Ailish Wiley and Ruth Heavey scoring. The final group match against Adare was another great contest finishing honours even at a goal each. Qualifying for the B competition Monaleen met Newcastle West in the semi-final. Getting off to a great start with a goal from Claire Kelly from long range, Newcastle West scored late in the first half to even the score. In the second half Monaleen took the lead again after a move from midfield and a great finish by Aine Doyle. Leading by this single score they were denied victory by a great Newcastle West goal in the last seconds. The match went to extra time with both sides giving a great display of camogie skills in attack and defense. The sides finished level, and eventually Newcastle West qualified for the final after a penalty shoot out. Everyone on the team played really well in all games and it was a very enjoyable day all round.

Well done to the girls; Shalini Katur, Georgina Johnson, Robin McDonnell, Ailish Wiley, Alex Leahy, Claire Kelly, Susan Fullen, Rachel Hinchy, Kate Golden, Yvonne Sheahan, Ciara Neville, Aine Doyle, Aine Nelligan, Kerry O Donoghue, Ruth Heavey
