Club NotesMay 16th, 2010Intermediate HurlingMonaleen 1-17 Dromin-Athlacca 2-12Monaleen Our Intermediate hurlers had their first taste of championship fare when they met a determined Dromin Athlacca in Caherconlish who ran out winners by 1-17 to 2-12. Peter Russell notched up 1-7 while county footballer Gerry Collins had a personal tally of 4 points with Daniel Foley scoring a point to complete the Monaleen scoring. The next outing in the championship is against Ballybricken in Claghaun on Saturday next.
Junior FootballMonaleen 3-11 St.Patrick's 3-7Monaleen 5-14 Na Piarsaigh 2-10The Junior A footballers had their first competitive action in the City League. They brightened up the week with a double win against St Patricks and some days later against Na Piarsaigh to maintain a hundred percent record. However it was the scoring prowess of Shane Dineen with a total of 1-8 that inspired a late comeback to win a vital game. Podge Pond, Brian Collins, Julian Burke, Darragh Connelly, Damien Cosgrave and Shane Leonard were outstanding in a 3-11 to 3-7 win.The second game within the week saw a varied panel gain an emphatic win over Na Piarsaigh on the score of 5-14 to 2-10. The team lined out as follows: Gavin Manifold, Jed McDermott, Ronan Parkes, Diarmuid Lehane, Julian Burke, Michael Nicholas, Brian Collins, Diarmuid McCarthy, Shane Leonard, Podge Pond, John Paul Stokes, Cian Clohessy, Shane Dineen, Cathal Parkes, Ross ONeill.
Girls U12 FootballMonaleen 5-0 St. Ailbe's 2-2U12 girls met St Ailbe's in a cracking top of the table fixture at
Monaleen on Sunday. Jane Clohessy was excellent in midfield and Claire
Kelly, Ciara Neville and Ellie Nolan linking up to put Aisling Doyle
and Sarah Shortt through for well taken goals. In the second half St
Ailbe's rallyed strongly, and Caoimhe Lyons, Emma Doyle, Emma Campbell
and Caroline Leahy were outstanding as they repelled powerful attacks
by the visitors, with Taine Amodeo and Clíodhna McCarthy showing
well up front. Monaleen won out by 5-0 to 2-2 after a fine exhibition
of football by both teams.U14 Girls played St Ailbes on Wednesday.
We had a comprehensive win which set us up for a Shield Semi Final match
against Kilmallock. Girls U12 CamogieMonaleen 3-1 Ahane 1-0The Monaleen U12 camogie team recorded another great win last Thursday
against a strong Ahane side. It was a very close affair throughout with
Monaleen leading by a Caoimhe Lyons goal at the break. In the second
half Aisling Doyle scored a great goal and a point to extend the lead.
Ahane fought hard to get back in the game and scored a fine goal before
Aoife O Driscoll found the net from close range to secure the win by
3-1 to 1-0. Another fine performance by all the girls. Niamh Holmes.

U14 Boys FootballMonaleen 4-12 Galbally 4-6Our U14 footballers had a good win over Galbally in the league. This was a tight game which Monaleen only won in the last few minutes thanks to a goal from substitute Jamie Porter. Others to impress were Jack Cleary, Brian Donovan, Niall OShea and Ronan Murphy. Ladies Club Quiz NightWe would like to thank all those who supported out highly successful
