Playing an exciting brand of attacking football they took the game to their opponents and were comfortably ahead at half time. They survived a strong comeback, including a converted penalty from their opponents in the second half but were once again taking the game to their rivals at the end and ran out deserving winners on a score line of 3-7 to 3-5. U12 Girls Gaelic Football
Monaleen Under 12 Girls gaelic football had two great wins this week. In the first match against Gerald Griffins on Tuesday they got off to a great start with early scores from Sarah Shortt, Megan O Meara, Aisling Doyle and Claire Kelly. Robin Gleeson also scored a great goal from a free leaving Monaleen leading by 3-3 to no score at half time. In the second half Gerald Griffins strongly resisted Monaleens pressure and managed to score a goal after some great work from midfield. They would have scored more only for some great defensive work from Lauren O Dell, Emma Campbell, Laura Phelan and Caoimhe Lyons. A strong performance also from Aoife Dooley and Clodagh Murphy kept a good supply into the forwards who for long periods were kept scoreless apart from a two converted frees by Sarah Shortt. In the end Monaleen were clear winners by 6-5 to 1-0, with Caroline Leahy, Susan Fullen also playing really well.
On Thursday they played Mungret at home and again started the scoring early. Sarah Shortt and Megan O Mara were dominant from midfie ld creating many chances for the forwards with Aisling Doyle getting two goals and a point. In the second half strong performances in defence by Lauren O Dell, Emma Campbell, Caoimhe Lyons,Aoife Dooley and Rebecca Fine in goal kept Mungret scoreless, while at the other end Caroline Leahy scored a goal and Sarah O Donnell scored a great point. Megan O Hare, Susan Fullen and Niamh Mulhall played really well in winning possession and getting some lovely passes away with Monaleen eventual winners by 8-5 to no score.

Under 8 Hurling BlitzMonaleen, Na Piarsaigh, St. Patricks.
This was the first night of a new era for underage gaelic games in Limerick under the "Lifting the Treaty" programme, which is the new initiative from the County Board to develop hurling and football in Limerick. Monaleen was the host venue for this blitz with Na Piarsaigh and St. Patrick's.
Each club brought about 15 players, so three pitches were laid out and close to 50 young lads spent an hour or so of this fantastic evening playing their hearts out! Each club fielded two teams, and six games in all were held on the night. Monaleens Team 1 first came up against St. Patricks, in a game which ended in a draw. Jason Aylward had a great game for Monaleen, sweeping up the St. Patrick's attacks, while James Flannery and Eoin Twomey were superb in the attack. In their next match this team lost narrowly to Na Piarsaigh, with Claudio Lopes having a great display in goal.
Monaleen's Team 2 were put in a brave display against Na Piarsaigh, and despite outstanding midfield energy from David McMahon and Michael O'Hanrahan, the team ended up losing this encounter to a very sharp Na Piarsaigh team. Niall McGrath pulled off some fine saves in goal. In their next match against St. Patrick's they got off to a cracking start with a fabulous long range goal from Caolan Madden. Jack Considine soon added a number of points, aided by Muiris Bowler firing in some fine long range shots from midfield. In the end the game was a draw, and everyone went home happy and tired!
