Under 10 Camogie

The U10 girls travelled to Adare on Saturday and ran out comfortable winners. Scores from Taine Amodeo, Ruth Heavey, Kerry O Donoghue and Aine Doyle were too much from the home side. The girls remain unbeaten this year after 8 games which is a great achievement. Girls Football

Under 12s : Monaleen 5-4 Ahane 0-2

Monaleen U12 girls had a hard fought victory in the heat against local rivals Ahane at Monaleen GAA, with fine forward play from Chloe Tobin, Sarah Shortt, Claire Kelly and Anna Clancy in the first half, with Aisling Doyle and Jane Clohessy dominating the midfield exchanges. Ellie Nolan kicked off the scoring in the second half, and a strong defensive effort from Niamh Holmes, Brónagh Kelly, Caoimhe Lyons and goalkeeper Rebekah Fine ensured a fine win for Monaleen, on a score of 5-4 to 0-2. Monaleen finish the league Section unbeaten and now are assured a place in the A County Semi Final.

Under 14s

The Under 14’s play the C County Semi Final against Kilmallock on Monday evening.

Under 16s

The under 16 C Final against St Patricks had been deferred to the Autumn as the Junior Certificate approaches for a number of players.

Under 9/10 Football

Community Games : Monaleen 5-6 Murroe boher 1-4

Monaleen played Murroe on Wednesday night at home and secured a good win with a final score line of 5-6 to 1-4.
Great display of football skills all round and Monaleen now progress to the Quarter finals.

Football Blitz : Claughaun/Adare/St. Patricks

Monaleen hosted a Go Games Blitz on Friday night which include teams from Claghaun, St Pats, Adare and two teams from Monaleen, A great show of skill on display as each team played three games. A great evening's entertainment and thanks to the coaches of Adare, St Pats and Claghaun. Monaleen players were as above community games team with the additional of Paul Power, Sean O Kane, Jack Canny, Tom Ryan, Mark Griffen, Barry Sutton, Daire Ryan, Conor Coombs.

Under 6/7 Hurling

Congratulations to our young hurlers who played their first ever set of matches away to Ahane GAA last Wednesday May 19th.The determination and skills displayed by players on both sides were a joy to behold.

Monaleen 2-8 Adare 1-4
Monaleen 3-14 Doon1-7

Monaleen Under 14 Hurling completed the double when defeating Adare 2-8 to 1-4 in a very entertaining final of the All County Hurling League. The opening half was very keenly contested, with Monaleen going in to the break with a 0-5 to 0-1 lead. Monaleen scorers Edward Doyle 2-4, Andrew La Touche Cosgrave 0-3, John Nicholas 0-1, Cian O Brien gave a man of the match performance at centre back, in a fine overall team performance. Team ; Leo Morrison, Darragh Murphy, Ronan Murphy, Reiss Connolly, Lorcan Lyons, Cian O Brien, Thomas Holmes, Rory Cunningham, Andrew La Touche Cosgrave, Brian Donovan, John Nicholas, Jamie Porter, Shane Doyle, Edward Doyle, Domhnaill Dooley, Oisin Kelly, Jack Cleary, Kevin Gleeson, Sean Gleeson, Kevin Ryan, Daniel Power, Alan Nicholas, Colm O Kane.

On Wednesday last, Monaleen U14 hurlers continued their winning ways with a well earned victory over Doon on a 3-14 to 1-7 score-line in the first round of the Championship. Monaleen Scorers, Edward Doyle 1-5, Jamie Porter 1-2, Shane Doyle 1-0, John Nicholas 0-3, Andrew La Touche 0-3 and 0-1 from man of the match Rory Cunningham.

Intermediate Hurling

Monaleen 1-12 Ballybricken-Bohermore 1-10

What a difference a week does in championship hurling as our Intermediate team were crestfallen last week following a two point defeat to Dromin-Athlacca but this Saturday they rectified the situation with a resounding win over a lively Ballybricken-Bohermore side by 1-12 to 1-10.

Leading at the interval by 1-6 to 1-2, having been helped by a John O’Dwyer goal and Peter Russsell’s sharpshooting. The sides drew level with ten minutes to go and it was inspirational play from Shane Mullane whose point put them ahead, along with intelligent defending from Brian Geary, Damien Cosgrave, Finbar Nash, Niall Macken and John Bartley that kept Monaleen in the game. Then Peter Russell capped a spectacular point from play with one from a free to guarantee the win.

Junior Football

Monaleen 3-11 Milford 0-3

Our Junior A footballers maintained their 100% record with a resounding win against neighbours, Milford in Roselawn. With Shane Dineen scoring 2 goals and Ross O’Neill getting the third, this game was never in doubt for the visitors. Shane Leonard, Ronan Parkes and Donal Byrne had outstanding performances in a game which ended in Monaleen scoring 3-11 to Milford’s 0-3.

Adult Ladies Football

The Adult Ladies have moved the training nights to Tuesday and Friday nights at 8.00.

Lotto

The Monaleen GAA Club Lotto draw for the past week results are: the jackpot of €14, 800 was not won as was the €1,000 prize. The Quick Pick winners are: Fergal Kenzie, Killonan, Gary Staunton, Castletroy Heights, Pat Collins, Killonan, Brendan and Alan c/o B. Clifford Annacotty. Next week’s jackpot is €15, 100.

Golf Classic - 1st./2nd July

Details have just been announced of the annual Monaleen GAA Golf Classic to be held in Ballykisteen Golf Club in Monard on Thursday and Friday 1st and 2nd July. The costs per team is €180, including a meal while the tee-box sponsorship is €60. For further details contact Joe Bourke, Paul Hackett, Pat Maher or Tom Crosse.
