Club NotesNovember 23rd, 2009Indoor ActivitiesFootball and hurling are in full swing for our younger members despite the bad weather. Indoor hurling, camogie and football are still taking place on these cold, wet nights. On Monday nights, the 2003 boys and girls are in Milford Hall at 6PM, the 2002's in Bawnmore at 6PM, the 2001 boys are in Milford at 7PM, while the 2001-1999 girls are in Castletroy College at 7PM. On Friday nights, the 2003 Hurlers are in Milford at 6, while girls' camogie is in the UL Arena for the 2002/03's at 6, while the 2000/01 are in Milford at 7pm. This is a great fun-filled environment to hone the skills over the winter. New players are very welcome to join in, and indeed, any parent who wants to help out a little with the supervision of these sessions, just let the coach know. U8 CamogieThe final indoor blitz for the U8's took place on Saturday in Croom.
Of the 13 clubs participating on the day only Monaleen fielded 2 teams
a sign of the huge interest amongst the younger girls in the area. With
each team playing 3 games it was a busy couple of hours. All the girls
played well with the skills being learned in UL and Milford on Friday
evenings being used to good effect. Monaleen finished with 2 wins over
Kilmallock and Croagh Kilfiney; draws with Bruff and Kilmallock and
defeat to Charleville and NCW. The certificates and goodies bags received
were well deserved. U6 Boys HurlingLast Friday we completed our series of "hurling fundamentals" coaching sessions. Expertly lead by Pat Culhane, Limerick GAA Juvenile Hurling Development Officer, the sessions proved very popular and beneficial. Needless to say, Pat was given a hearty round of applause by both children and parents for his immense efforts over the past three weeks. Coaches John Twomey, Barry Coffey and Pat McMahon praise all children for their work ethic, discipline and sport. The team effort played by all, particularly by the assisting parents, made the evenings enjoyable for all. Any parent who wishes to join the coaching team should contact John. Helping hands are always welcome. Coaching continues each Friday 6pm in the excellent facilities of Milford School Gym.LottoThere was no winner of the club lotto draw on 18th November. The numbers
drawn were 7, 15, 19 and 24 Next week's jackpot will be €7,200.
