Under 12 Camogie League

Galbally 3-0 Monaleen 3-0

Monaleen made the long journey to Galbally on Thursday. A huge panel of 20 girls travelled with everyone playing at least one half.

The first half was even with both sides creating chances. Goalkeeper Eileen Russell's puckouts were used to good effect by Nora Farrell and Ciara Wiley but it was a well taken Galbally free just before half time that was the difference between the sides at the break.

Eight subs were introduced at half time to ensure all the girls got a game. The switch of Niamh Doyle to Centre Forward and some great play from Grainne Fullen allowed Monaleen to take control of the match. Goals from Aine Hegarty and Caroline Crotty followed quickly and put Monaleen into a 2 goal lead with less than 10 minutes remaining.

At this stage the already poor weather conditions deteriorated further with freezing rain falling heavily. Just holding the hurley was difficult. Galbally adapted to the conditions well and finished strongly scoring with 5 minutes to go to bring them within 1 score of Monaleen. This period of play featured some very tough camogie with hard challenges from both sides and it was a dubious penalty decision in the final minute which presented Galbally with a goal opportunity which was finished well.

In summary it was another great performance from Monaleen with all 20 girls playing well in terrible conditions.

Thanks again to Ray Hogan (referee).
