Thursday, April 24th, 2008Under 12 Camogie LeagueBruff 4-2 Monaleen 0-0Monaleen travelled to Bruff for what proved to be a hard fought match. With a lot of the panel missing due to injury or other commitments only 13 girls were available. Under serious pressure from a strong Bruff forward line Leah Quinlan and Grainne Fullen our corner backs played brilliantly in the first half. Igraine O Dwyer in midfield was working hard and put in a great performance. This added to by some fantastic saves from goalkeeper Eileen Russell kept Monaleen in touch. Throughout the field the blocking and commitment shown by all the Monaleen players was a feature of the first half. In the second half it was Monaleen doing more of the attacking. Despite near misses from Ciara Willey, Caroline Crotty and Siobhan Phelan the Bruff defence stood firm. Aoife Hogan at centre forward had a great second half creating a lot of the Monaleen chances. Shannon Power from long distance forced the Bruff goalie to bring off a great save. Late on in the game as the pressure on the Bruff goal continued a solo run from Niamh Doyle looked to have unlocked the defence but yet again Monaleen were denied. On an evening when all the players gave 100% for little reward on the scoreboard Maebh Ni Ghuairim, Eilbhe Harrington and Laura Enright played well throughout the match. Well done to everyone including referee Ray Hogan who allowed a few minutes extra when it looking certain that Monaleen would get a score..
