Under 10 Camogie Report - Away to Sarsfields

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

It was a sunny Saturday morning when the Under 10s camogie team gathered at Monaleen club, ready to board the bus and head to Sarsfields of Cork, for the first long trip away this year. An excited bunch of 15 girls along with coach Elizabeth Stundon, some parents and supporters departed at 10.30am.

On arrival the girls headed to the dressing rooms and prepared for their 2 matches. Both games were very exciting with Monaleen showing great skills and strength on the pitch. There was plenty of scoring, some hard tackling and some super saves. During the first match the rain came down and the sleet tried to dampen the spirits but the enthusiasm from the girls was great to see and they continued to play no matter what the weather brought.

The second game saw brighter sunshine and again the girls took their scoring chances and came out overall winners. Sarsfields put in great challenges but I must say the Monaleen girls put on a powerful display of camogie and proved how much they have learned since joining the club. The parents were pleased with the level of play and so proud of the girls, well done to all.

Sarsfields gave us a fine welcome and treated us to goody bags, tea, coffee, sandwiches and biscuits in their club house before sending us on our way home. To round up the day, we stopped off in Charleville and arrived back safely to the club to the waiting parents at 6.15pm.

Well done girls!!
