Monaleen Under 13 and 14 Hurling Finals 2009Monaleen Under 13 and Under 14 Hurling Teams finished 2009 on a high, winning the Under 13 County League Final, beating Askeaton-Ballysteen and then in October beating Newcastlewest in the U14 County Hurling Final. Both team had 100% success rate in the group matches before winning their respective finals. Congratulations to all who played on these teams during the course of the season. The Monaleen school U13 Hurling team won the Oola Cup for the very first time in 2009. Under 13 Hurling Final Monaleen U13 hurlers captured the all county hurling title with
a victory over a very game Askeaton Ballysteen team. Playing against
a strong wind in the first half, Monaleen went in 3-5 to 0-1 point
ahead at half time after a good team performance. Under 14 Hurling Final
Monaleen captured the U14 County title in a sun drenched Croagh after
a fine victory over Newcastlewest on a score line of 7-8 to 0-9 points.
