Coaching Policy is being formulated in hurling and football from
the nursery years through to adults. This policy will follow the
model as set out in the GAA
coach education programme covering 5 levels of coach education
from foundation level through to level 4. All juvenile
coaches are encouraged to maintain a logbook of their charges for the
season. A template can be downloaded from this site. [Logbook
download] Coaches
will be getting professional assistance and will be encouraged to attend
all appropriate coaching courses to ensure that high standards are achieved
and maintained within the club.
GO
GamesThe importance of developing FUNdamental movement skills (eg. running, jumping, throwing, catching, striking, and kicking) has been closely associated with increased positive movement experiences, reduced drop out from youth sport and consequently an affinity towards lifelong participation. The wider implications are the impact this can have on physical and mental health. It has long been thought that the development of skills used in sport and dance involves the modification and combination of more basic fundamental movement abilities into goal directed movements of increasing complexity. The principles that underpin both generic and sport-specific movement skills can be referred to as the FUNdamentals of Movement, and this term refers to the ABCs of movement - Agility, Balance, Coordination and speed.
